An insecticide is a normal or man-made preparation that is used to kill or else control insects. Instead of killing insects, an insecticide may work to stop them from reproducing. Extensively used in agricultural, insecticides are also usually applied in the homes and workplaces of humans. Insecticides are secret as either organic or inorganic. An organic insecticide is resulting from a living organism like a plant or an animal. Organic insecticides are considerate to be environmentally sound, causing no harm to the earth, humans or animals. They often consist of things like fatty acids and plant oils. Inorganic insecticides are often consequent from heavy metals and arsenic-containing compounds. Some descriptions are man-made or synthetic.

Types of inorganic insecticides include boric acid, diatomaceous earth and silica gel. Commonly-used synthetic formulas include but are not limited to pyrethroids and carbamates. Considered highly successful against insects, inorganic or synthetic formulas typically offer good remaining activity. Though an inorganic or synthetic insecticide can work well at getting rid of irritating pests, each comes with likely dangers. Many are toxic, having the ability to harm to a variety of living organisms. Levels and types of insecticide toxicity differ widely. Opponents of inorganic and synthetic insecticides consider their continued use will lead to grave environmental consequences, as proponents believe risk to the environment is insignificant. Broad spectrum and narrow spectrum: Insecticides vary in the figures of different kinds of insects they kill. Some insecticides kill just a few kinds of insects. Many insecticides are universal purpose or wide range killers. These broad spectrum pesticides are used when several different kinds of insects are a problem. Narrow spectrum affects certain groups of species that have an exacting hormone. Lastly, pheromones are the most limiting because they react with only one species or one sex of a single species.
